Excellence balancing work and life for me involves simplifying. When I am verging on the stressed-side of any given day, I often have to stop and rethink what I had planned to do and what I really NEED to do. Some days too much is planned and it is better to re-prioritize all of the plans and determine what can wait and what really has to be done that day. I often eliminate spending money to alleviate the stress. Do I really need to go to Target this week? Can I wait another week to buy toilet paper and whatever else I had planned to get? I force myself to stick to the basic necessities and eliminate the extras. I also try to avoid certain places where I will certainly have difficulty parking or waiting in a checkout line and plan to do that when I won't have those issues.
